Here she is, our new third grader! Emma finished up her second grade school year today!
We met her at the bus stop and there was great excitement in the backseat when that yellow bus pulled up.
We met her at the bus stop and there was great excitement in the backseat when that yellow bus pulled up.
And the sweet girl got off the bus with a wade of tissues in her hand. She did her best to whip out a smile but she honestly was just sad. She has spent two years with the same group of students. Two years with " the world's bestest, bestest teacher in the whole wide world." And she is going to miss everyone greatly. She didn't even notice that her report card was practically perfect, she was more excited about the extra worksheets her teacher gave her so she could play school with the little kids.
We were expecting the sadness so we had big plans. We headed up the road to TGI Fridays (note to the locals - don't even waste your time going to the one in C-burg. Awful, awful service. Does it really take 65 minutes to come up with a bowl of Mandarin oranges?). Amy surprised Emma by showing up for lunch too! And that made this third grader very happy.
Emma was so sweet loving on Chrish!
And we spent lots of time coloring (since it took over 45 minutes to make a few bowls of mac and cheese). I digress- sorry about that - can you tell I'm still not over my annoyance?
And this girl threw lots of food on the floor. And I was happy that I didn't have to clean it all up :)
Then we went to get ice cream!
McKenna had her very first ice cream cone. It was cute until she started dabbing it on her dress.
Emma had the "dirt sundae" complete with gummy worm.
And Christian had the dinosaur sundae.
It's tasty and if you go to the Bruster's website you can print off a coupon so they're only 99 cents on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Yummo! Too bad today is Thursday and my coupons didn't work. But we loved having special time with Emma. That's what counts. I think she felt loved which was the point. And in the next 24 hrs Emma will be spending time with all three of her dearest friends; Anessa's house for a sleep over, Ellie's house for some morning fun and an afternoon with Ella.
So congratulations Emma on running the race with perseverance and finishing strong! We are immensely proud of you!
Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..."
