Abby has salmonella poisoning. Praise God that we finally got some answers. We are actually quite pleased with that diagnosis because it means she's not contagious and really the only way to treat it is to wait it out.
We also have a lot more questions at this point. Where on earth did she get it from??? She had salad for lunch on Sunday (the bagged kind, but then we put a bunch of fresh veggies in it which could be another possible source) and she was the only child who ate it (lots of adults ate it without any problems), so we're looking into that. Anyone remember the recall on bagged spinach from a few years ago?? She had McDonalds on Saturday, so that's another possible source. Salmonella outbreaks have been linked to various foods from peanut butter to spinach. I think our first step is to learn more about Salmonella poisoning to figure out how long it takes to have symptoms of poisoning after eating contaminated food. That will help us to figure out the source.
So we are thankful for an answer, but keep praying for our Abby girl!! She is still sick and needs a healing touch from Jesus!!
UPDATED: From everything I've been reading online....it looks like you develop the symptoms of salmonella poisoning 12-72 hours after eating contaminated food. So it could have been the McDonalds Abby had for lunch on Saturday. We all had a Stouffer's frozen lasagna for dinner on Sunday. Do you think it could have been that? Once again...no one else got sick from it! And I don't know what Abby ate before that because she was at her house. Hmm....lots of questions. Now I'm off to the doctor with Christian ...AGAIN!

Thanks Judy for all the updates and thanks so much for Sunday! It was great to fellowship with you all and eat such yummy food. I'm so sorry about Abby and I pray she gets over this real soon. Christine and I have been praying.
Love,
Melinda
I just read an article on MSNBC this morning about a huge salmonella outbreak right now being cause by a certain flavoring in all kinds of things like salad dressings, soups, sauces, hot dogs, etc. There was a huge recall yesterday. You can read the whole article here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35713702/ns/health-food_safety/
So glad they have an answer and so glad she is going home!!!
Judy, there is a nation wide recall on McCormick seasonings, spices, dressings, etc. Rob just got home from work and told me that they had to pull all of this stuff from the shelves due to salmonella.
