11 Months Old Already

Today McKenna turns 11 months old and I'll admit, I'm having a hard time with this one. Pretty soon she's going to be a year old and I'm finding that I wish I could just freeze her and make time stand still RIGHT NOW. I love this age. It's so fun to see her learning and discovering the world around her. She is delightful. She pats my back and gives me big, wet, open mouthed kisses. I love it and Ryan is totally jealous because he doesn't get this kind of loving from her. Just me :)

McKenna has three teeth, all on the bottom, right now. She is not too interested in table food and still loves her baby food bananas and sweet potatoes.

She's been overcoming her texture issues and will now eat crackers and other crunchy treats.

McKenna loves books. She reads books everyday. She likes to be read to, but she also loves to explore books on her own. By the looks of this picture (above) I think she just might be a teacher. All she needs are a few little kids sitting at her feet and she'd be all set.

McKenna's other favorite things are babies! She loves to talk to her babies and give them kisses. It's so funny how she's such a girly girl at such a young age! And she loves her pink chair. She sits in it all the time!

McKenna thinks Christian is the funniest thing that God ever created. He makes her laugh all the time. It's so fun to see them and hear them playing together! And Christian adores her. He is constantly commenting about how cute she is and how he loves her tiny hands and how it's okay if she rips his book (hmm..I'm not okay with that, but he is, just because it's her).

A few more McKenna stats:

*Weighs 21 lbs 4 oz

*Rolls all over the place and does a strange maneuver that sort of resembles a crawl, but not really. She can get wherever she wants in any manor of different ways.

* Says "Mama," "Dada," "Dad," "Bubu," and "This." I have to explain the "this" word because it's hysterical. She points at things and says "this." That's her way of asking for whatever she's pointing at. I think she started saying "this" because I'm always asking her; "Do you want THIS? Why don't you eat THIS." etc. McKenna has also said something that sounded an awful lot like Chrish and she has clearly said "Abby" although it's not consistent.

*McKenna is a horrible sleeper. I never know if she's going to sleep through the night or be up seven times. It just depends on if she has an ear infection or if she's getting a tooth. You never know and it's maddening!!

*McKenna loves music and loves to sing. As soon as she hears music or even just Christian singing she starts to bounce up and down. If she sees one of us singing she starts singing "dada" at the top of her lungs.

*McKenna is starting to get a little feisty. She throws her food on the floor and screams if she doesn't want to be in her high chair. She squirms the entire time she's getting a diaper change and if she doesn't want to go to sleep she throws her binkie across the room. And to top it off, she laughs whenever I tell her "no."

"In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."- Job 12:10

McKenna, We continually thank God for the gift of your life! You have brought a JOY to our hearts that could have never dreamed existed. You are our DELIGHT. You fill our home with LOVE and HAPPINESS every day. Your laughter, smiles, snuggles and wet kisses melt our hearts!

We love you so much,

Mommy, Daddy and Christian

I love your "this" story. My mom was "This" for the longest time when Jack was little. We were always trying to get him to say new things and she would point to herself and ask "Who's this?" She didn't know that would become her name for at least a few months!

i remember so clearly last year at this time...waiting for her to make her arrival! I can't believe she is so quickly approaching 1. what a sweet girl. i LOVE her pink chair - I LOVE that she loves to read (she and callie would be best friends, i just know it). And don't you love that God gave Christian a sister - and that they would not even know life without the other!!!
