Will's First Check-Up
Okay....bad mommy me!!! I haven't taken any pictures of Will for two days. Yes, I know he's the third child, but I can do better!!! I will take a picture before he goes to bed :) Will had his first check up today. He's back to gaining weight. He's not quite back up to his birth weight, but he weighed in at a healthy 9lbs 2oz. He has been looking a little yellow, so after the pediatrician visit we headed over to the hospital to have some blood work done. The sweet boy barely cried when they pricked his heel and started squeezing out the blood. Thankfully we've already gotten the test results and he's within the normal range, so we will not have to check it again! Yay!!! Remember my previous post about what a sweet boy Will was and how he was such a good sleepy, calm boy? Well, the next night I never went to bed. Literally. Right after that post he stayed up and fussed all night. It was terrible. I cried. But I know it comes with the territory and I think he got himself straightened out. Last night was much better. I wasn't awake nearly as much and I got several straight hours of sleep. Honestly, I do think Will is our easiest baby so far. But I also think recovering from a c-section is much, much worse than delivering a baby the regular way. But he is worth it. Every moment has been worth it. I sat and watched Christian lay on my bed next to Will and just chat away with him. Christian was trying so hard to get him to smile. It was precious. And later today I held McKenna on my lap while McKenna held Will! Oh gracious! My heart is so full. We are blessed!!

Recovery
If you're wondering how I'm doing, I would tell you "great...other than the fact that I feel like I got run over by a truck." It's not just my stomach that is sore. It's my feet that are as swollen as I've ever seen them. And my left arm where I got several shots. And my back...who knows why that is killing me. Yeah, it's fun! Having a c-section is no cake walk, but I can tell that I'm feeling a little better each day and using a little less Vicodin to survive. Honestly when I look at Will's head and shoulders I think that a c-section probably was the right choice, but I don't think I ever want to do this again. Recovery is not fun. So I've pretty much parked myself upstairs in a recliner and everyone is waiting on me :)

Will's Weekend

The Big Sister
Even with everything going on with Will, I just have to take a moment to document and celebrate my precious daughter. You might remember that she decided to be a big girl six days ago. She declared that she was grown up and didn't need diapers anymore. It's remarkable, but she was serious and she has used the potty all week. She wakes up with a dry diaper in the morning and she hasn't had any accidents. We've still been putting pull-ups on her when we go places (like when she came to the hospital) but she really doesn't need them.
Last night she had her very first sleepover (where she actually slept on the floor in a sleeping bag) with her cousin Abby. Auntie Mimi put the girls to bed and McKenna told her that she didn't want her binkie anymore. Say what? So Aunt Mimi took her binkie and don't you know McKenna fell asleep without. I'm so proud of her!! And I'm extremely thankful that she's had lots of people around her (Grandmom, Abby, Emma, Mimi) cheering her on. I actually think the timing of all of this is pretty good because it's giving McKenna lots of attention and recognition during a time when normally it would be all about the baby.
So that's the update on the big sister.
I've hardly even seen my two big kids since I've been home. Christian has no time for me since his best buddy Nate is here (they're outside right now). And McKenna is super busy going through all of Abby and Emma's stuff. It's hilarious...Abby will put on her boots and the next thing you know McKenna is digging around trying to find her boots. I'm so glad McKenna has such wonderful girls in her life to set an example for her.

Welcome Home Sweet Boy!
We're home!
Ahhhh..feels so good to be home.
We were discharged this afternoon and it was heavenly to take a shower and get a nap in my own bed. There have been plenty of hands ready to hold Will, so it's been a nice little break.
Home Tour By: McKenna
I decided to take over my mom's blog for awhile since she's busy at the hospital with my new brother. I'm going to show you around my house. I took all the pictures myself. My mom didn't even know I was using her camera!"
"Check out our laundry room."
"And there's the stairs."
"That present is for Emma's birthday which was a month ago."
