I’m back.... Road Trip 2019

I never knew if I would pick up blogging again, but here we go. Blogging is a great way of telling a story, not just giving a snipet or a glimpse into a certain situation. And this summer I want to tell a story because I want to remember it in 20 years.
Christian was invited to play in a baseball tournamentin Omaha, NE this summer. It’s 12 hours from our house and Dad is working so it’s just the kids and I on this adventure.
I’ll be honest. I’ve been dreading this trip. Lots of anxiety about being so far from home with no other adult. The list of “what if’s” in my mind are long. But I am really, really hoping my kids can look back on this trip and see a mom who desperately wanted to create beautiful childhood memories and who pushed through her own fears to do it.
So welcome to our summer of 2019 roadtrip!!

Early this morning we hit the road and weaved our way through North Alabama, around Nashville, Tennessee, through Paducah, Kentucky and across the great Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri!! As soon as the Gateway Arch was in sight everyone got excited and a little nervous.

I have been in the Arch before but wanted to kids to experience “the gateway to the west” for themselves.

You know it’s made to sway a little. Not my favorite part, but the engineering is amazing!

The museum before you enter the Arch did a great job of explaining the Louisiana Purchase and westwardexpansion.

Fifth grade teacher Judy may have shown up & “taught” a little more than they would have liked. But history is best learned when you get to see it!
