House Help!

Okay, I need your opinion here .... for real. I really want you to leave me a comment and give me some advice. The shutters on our house are currently 3 different colors thanks to the fading of the sun. I've been thinking about repainting the shutters and doors for 2 years now and this might be the year to just do it. It's not an expensive project, it's just labor intensive.

Before/After
Here is the first option of what I could do. I could just repaint everything the navy blue that they originally were. This would not be a big change. It would just freshen up the look we already have. This would be the easy route because even our shed had blue shutters and our basement door is also blue so I wouldn't necessarily have to repaint everything.
Before/After
Okay, before you freak out...I know that the color of that red door is awful. I was using some editing software and since I don't really know what I'm doing, that's the best I could do. It just gives you an idea.
So this would be a bigger change. I would paint all the shutters black and paint the front door a burgundy red (not a Dr. Seuss hat red). This would involve painting my garage door (not the big one the car drives thru, the little one on the side). I'd also have to paint the shutters on my shed and my basement door.

What should I do??? Which do you like better???

I pick the blue (the original colors). It just seems to fit best with your house/stone, etc. Either would be fine, but that's my vote! Happy painting : )

I sort of prefer the blue--just my opinion!

Dad and I like the blue. Holly is right, it goes with the stone.

Do you have a homeowners association where you live? In our subdivision you have to get permission from the HOA before you change the colors on your house. It keeps folks from randomly painting their house neon orange or some other weird color. I agree with everyone else you should just paint the same color....you are a busy Mom with three kids....wait till they are older and can help you paint to take on the big job!

i really like them both. and the blue DOES look nice. but that red REALLY makes your house pop! somehow, it makes all teh colors in the stone stand out more...

Judy,

The shutters, blue or black are fine, but there is something so inviting about a red door!
With it, the house just looks neat, crisp and welcoming!

How about keeping the shutters blue, but add the burgundy red or cranberry red door. I like the different colored door. We have rust red shutters with a dark forest green door. I like the contrast. Good luck and happy painting!!!! :)

Too funny - just the other day we decided to paint our door and shutters! The door is already a burgundy red, but we want it a little brighter and our blue shutters are going black! Guess you can figure out which one I vote for, huh?

I've always been partial to a red door. It is a sign of welcome, which is why you see a lot of churches with red doors. I vote for the black shutters and the red door.

I vote for the red door option. Anna :-)

I like the red door too! You could do blue with red to keep it easy. I always like black... very classic. I really think you can't go wrong.
