Beautiful Day

I think this day just might be perfection.
The weather looks perfect and I'm praying that the little attitudes I was dealing with last night have been swept away as they slept.
We don't have any big plans for the day other than yard work (the story of our lives) and a baseball game this afternoon. Fun! Fun!!

I do want to draw your attention to a blog that is listed on my sidebar. Please pray for my little buddy Ryan! He is a miracle baby, who's not a baby anymore :) He's struggling right now to recover from his most recent heart surgery. He could use your prayers. And so could his mommy...she's so amazing...has such a positive attitude, but let's be real - it's terrible to have your child in the hospital. So leave her a comment of encouragement...just let her know that you're praying for her sweet boy.

Today

Will's new favorite room in our house is the laundry room and his new favorite pastime (and McKenna's too) is watching the laundry dry.
I'm not ready to reveal my made-over laundry room just yet. I still have a few things in the works before it's "done" but look at that little man in the picture is so close to being a full time walker. So close. He can do it, he just doesn't know it yet.
I've spent far too much time today googling things like this for another project. I'm tired of going to stores and leaving empty handed, so this has become an internet quest. In case you're wondering...it's for the swing set.

And then there's this cheerful little beauty. It's a shower curtain, but thanks to pinterest I've got much bigger plans for her :)

Well, that's it for the day!!! Hope you're having a happy Friday!!!

Safe at First

There's nothing sweeter than Christian's smile when he gets a base hit and makes it safely to first base!

"bubble gum stretch"

Christian's kindergarten teacher is pretty much awesome and she uses all kinds of fun strategies to help kids remember things that they're learning or to help them do something.

For example, whenever she teaches them something important that she wants them to remember (like a specific word) she tells them to "stick it in their back pocket" so they can get it out later. Earlier this week Christian was reading to me and I pointed to the word "let's" and asked him what type of word that was. He said, "Wait a minute. I know it because I put it in my back pocket, I've just got to get it out." He sat there for a minute and let his brain work and then he retrieved the word (figuratively) out of his back pocket and told  me that "let's" is a contraction!!!

Whenever the kindergarteners are writing they use their "bubble gum" stretch strategies to write out words they don't know how to spell. It basically just means you sound out the word, but it's more fun to call it a "bubble gum stretch"

Christian and McKenna made forts out of the boxes from our new washer and dryer and then Christian made a list of who was allowed to go in his fort. He didn't ask me to spell any of the names he just bubble gum stretched them and I just love how perfectly phonetic each of the names are spelled. So stinkin' cute!!!  Just in case you weren't sure what each of the names said I wrote the correct spelling by each name. I think my favorite is "ulisubith." I mean seriously, how cute is that! And I can't wait for "gramom" to go in the fort!

Twister & Shadow

We've been enjoying our new neighbors. Can you guess which one is Twister and which one is Shadow?? I think I'm more interested in them than the kids are.
They are typically only outside in the evenings. I love sitting at the dinner table and looking out the window and watching them. So peaceful.
Well, Shadow is peaceful. Twister is a little wild and the kids know not to climb on the fence when Twister comes over for a visit.

Two of my new Favorites!

Why on earth am I just now learning about Pledge Multi-Surface cleaner?? Love it! I can go in the playroom and clean the windows, the tv, the bookcases...everything with it! I love begin able to walk around the house with one can of cleaner and clean everything! So great for when company is coming and you need to clean something fast!

Method cleaners are my other new favorite!! The pink grapefruit muli-purpose cleaner smells good. It actually makes me want to clean!!!

Okay, that's it!!! Just wanted to share :)

The things people say...

I took the kids out to eat tonight to celebrate Christian's awesome report card. There was a tiny little girl walking around and I asked her mom how old she was. Her mom said that she was 11 months old but that she had been walking from the time she was 10 months old. And I told her Will wasn't quite walking on his own yet, but that he was close. And then she said, "Well, I'm a stay at home mom, so that's probably why my child is so advanced."
Ummm...what???
For the record, I didn't respond.

Popsicle Face

So I guess he doesn't like orange popsicles!
