Apple Picking!!

Christian with an apple that he picked!

We went apple picking today at Gardenour's Orchard!! It was such a fun activity for the kids and we went with some of our favorite friends; Miss. Angie and Taryn, and Miss. Mandy, Ellie and Kate! We went to an orchard that is basically on the side of a mountain. It's so beautiful, but difficult to hike around. The combination of a significant incline with lots of apples all over the ground made for a few spills for the boys! It was fun for me to see the orchard owners because I taught their son in fifth grade five years ago!
Ellie and Emma found some great red apples! At first they were enjoying being in charge of their own bags, then they started to fill up and pretty soon the mommies ended up carrying them!
Taryn helping Nathan pick some apples!
Christian and Kate! Kate just turned three, but she and Christian will actually be in the same grade in a few years! That scowl on Christian's face is just him saying "cheese."
Taryn giving Emma a boost! All the best apples always seem to be at the top of the tree!
Heading up the mountian!
Coming back down the mountain!

What sweet friends, Kate and Abby!
Taryn giving Kate a boost!

Now it's time to figure out what I'm going to do with all these apples!

P.S. I just have to mention the fact that Emma got her first report card today!! All of her grades were an S+, which is the highest grade you can get! Emma's teacher had glowing things to say about her. We were especially please to hear that Emma is a great friend to everyone in the class and that she helps the other students with their work and that many of them come to her with their questions!! Way to go Emma!!

Apple picking really looks like a lot of fun. What will you do with all of those apples? I'm sure Ryan would appreciate an apple pie. Emma likes apple pie. She had pie instead of a birthday cake!
Speaking of Emma, way to go precious girl! We are so pleased to hear about your success in school. Keep up the great work!
Love, Grandmom

Emma, I'm so proud of you and how you're doing in school--especially how you help your friends just like Jesus.
It was so wonderful to see you and Abby and Nathan and mom last weekend. Me and MR. Bob and CHristine love you all lots.

Hi Emma,
Your Grammy Ruth, my good friend, told me all about this blog and I'm so glad that I can still see, Abbey, Nathan, and your cousins. You're getting so tall and grown up and I smiled at your picture with your missing front tooth. It looks like you're really enjoying your new school and home! I've printed all of the blog pictures to give to your Grammy Ruth. I've been telling her all about what I've seen on the blog and can't wait to see her face when she opens the surprise package tomorrow at our Friday Bible study!
Love and hugs, Mrs. Sally

Way to go Emma!! I am so proud of all of your hard work in school. Even more important though I am proud of you for treating the other kids in your class the way Jesus would want you to! Looks like you guys had a great time with the Apple Picking.

I'm so proud of you Emma! Being a big sister prepared you to be a big helper, that's great!
That apple picking looked like so much fun! An idea for a non-edible apple activity: you could do that thing where you cut the apple in half and see the star in the middle. Then you can do apple prints if you dip that in paint. I have a feeling you've done that before Aunt Judy, but I thought I'd remind you about it. :)

Apple pie, apple sauce, apple butter - what fun! It's activities like that that make me wish we lived a LITTLE more north. So my question is, was that "mandy" referenced in the blog the same mandy from high school? (You know, Mandy, Sarah, Katie?) Her girls look just like I remember her looking!!!
